Batsmen shine as Nepal post 274 against the USA

Nepal has set a fine target of 275 runs against the USA in the second match of the Tri-Series between Nepal, Oman, and the host USA. Nepal posted 274 runs before being bowled out in 49.2 overs at Moosa Cricket Stadium, Pearland.

Skipper Sandeep Lamichhane’s decision to bat first after winning the toss paid off as 3 Nepalese batters scored a half-century. Nepal’s openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh, who missed the previous match due to injury were back and added 56 runs for the opening wicket before Bhurtel was dismissed for 19 runs.

Aasif and Dev Khanal then added 62 runs for the second wicket as Aasif notched up a fifty, He scored 61 from 70 balls with 6 fours. Dev Khanal and Rohit Paudel’s 60 runs stand for the third wicket further boosted Nepal’s inning. Dev (54) completed his 2nd ODI half-century whereas Rohit scored his 5th ODI fifty. Rohit who is on red hot form since his comeback to the national team scored 62 runs and shared 65 runs with debutant Aadil Ansari, completing 4 successive fifty runs stands.

Aadil Ansari playing his first ODI smashed 36 runs from just 24 balls to guide Nepal towards a decent total. Despite being 243 for 4 in 44th over, Nepal lost the next 6 wickets for just 31 runs following a tight death bowling by Rusty Theron and Saurabh Netravalkar.

Theron picked up 4 wickets for the USA conceding 56 runs. Netravalkar and Ali Khan grabbed a couple of wickets each whereas Nisrag Patel and Yasir Mohammad also pockets 1 wicket each.
