Batting woes continues for Nepal; face defeat in practice

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Moors Cricket Club defeated Nepal Senior Cricket Team by 5 runs in it’s practice match played today at Moors Cricket Ground, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Nepal national team is currently in Sri Lanka preparing for the ICC World Cricket League Division IV tournament that is to be held in Malaysia from September 3-10.

Nepal’s disciplined bowling restricted Moors to a low total of 136 runs in 43 overs. But once again Nepali batting failed to show and hence were restricted to 131 runs in 43.1 overs.

Deciding to bat first, Isam Chalitha scored 37 runs for the home club. For Nepal, Sanjam Regmi claimed three wickets, Chandra Saud grabbed two wickets while Paras Khadka, Shakti Gauchan, Binod Das and Amrit Bhattarai picked up a wicket each.

Nepal’s Subash Khakurel top scored with 24 runs, Paras Khadka added 20 runs. Sharad Vesawkar and Binod Das added 19 each while Gyanendra Malla contributed 16 and Prithu Baskota scored 10 runs. Lakhsman, Pradeep and Chamira picked up four,three and two wickets respectively for the home club.

On Monday, Nepal had defeated Western Province by 94 runs. Gyanendra Malla scored 41 runs, Anil Mandal added 40, Paras Khadka scored 39, Sharad Vesawkar put 35, Shakti Gauchan managed 34, Basanta Regmi made 20 and Binod Das scored 17 as Nepal posted a fighting total of 250 runs. In reply, Western Province was restricted to 156 runs. Amrit Bhattarai picked up four wickets while Sanjam Regmi, Binod Das and Basanta Regmi picked up two wickets each for Nepal.
