Binod Das’s five-for routs Ranchi

Kathmandu – Veteran Binod Das’s 5 for 18, set up Kalaiya Cricket Club’ seven-wicket win over Ranchi Cricket Club in the final of 2nd Sanshad Cup T20 2016 at Sideshwar Cricket Ground in Bara district on Monday.

Quick Singles: Kalaiya Cricket Club 94/3 (18.2 ov) defeated Ranchi Cricket Club 93 (17.3 ov) by 7 wickets.

Ranchi opted to bat first and struggled to score in the final. Only Nikhil Jaishwal and Kamal Dubey scored in double digit with 25(29) and 24(22) respectively. Ranchi was bundled out for a mere 93 runs in 17.3 overs thanks to an outstanding bowling performance by the veteran medium pacer Binod Das. His crucial spell of bowling taking five-for (4-0-18-5) restricted and made the difference between the two team.

Avinash Karn was talk of the town after he conceded just 4 runs in 4 overs taking one wicket (4-0-4-1). Aarif Sheikh and Basant Regmi both grabbed wicket apiece.

Kalaiya needed 18.2 overs to wrap up the chase with the loss of three wickets. Opener Sunil Dhamala (21) and Amit Shrestha (17) put on 34 runs partnership in seven over. Aasif Sheikh failed for 9(19) but unbeaten partnership from Anil Shah (24*) and Aarif Sheikh (12) took the match away from Ranchi.

Atul Anand was impressive with 2-10 in his four overs.

Binod Das was adjudged as Man of the Match. Basant Regmi (Kalaiya Cricket Club) was awarded with Best Bowler in the tournament. He took 12 wickets in 6 matches with an strike rate of 10.42 and average of 7.92.

Sunil Dhamala (Kalaiya Cricket Club) got the Best Batsman award. He managed 179 runs including a half century (54) with an average of 29.83 in 6 matches.

Meanwhile, Monty Singh (Ranchi Cricket Club) was adjudged Player of the tournament. He took 10 wickets and managed 92 runs in five matches.

The runner up team received NRs. 25,000 and trophy while the winner grabbed NRs. 50,000 and trophy.
