Biratnagar crush Kathmandu by 7 wickets

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Region Number 1 Biratnagar registered a seven wickets victory over Region Number 3 Kathmandu in the Wai Wai Under 19 National Cricket Tournament at Pokhara on Thursday.

Winning the toss, Kathmandu chose to bat first and scored a meagre total of 72 runs in 26.1 overs. Opener Sharad Khadka scored 18 runs to remain the top scorer for the team while Number ten batsman Ram Jaiswal remained unbeaten at 17 runs. Pawan Shrestha added 11.

Player of the match Rohit Singh took five wickets, Amit Dahal claimed two wickets while Kalicharan Yadav and Nighab Khatiwada grabbed wicket apiece for Biratnagar.

In reply, Biratnagar chased the target in just 15.4 overs losing three wickets. Biratnagar lost their first wicket in fifth over at the score of 17 while the opener Niraj Shah and number three batsman Suman Shrestha added a partnership of 49 runs for second wicket. Shah scored 21 runs while Shrestha had 24 in his account.

Prajesh Bahadur Singh, Ujwal Thapa and Ram Jaiswal picked up a wicket each for Kathmandu.

Region Number 5 Nepalgunj will take on Region Number 6 Baitadi on Friday.
