Bowlers Inspire Win Against UAE

Kathmandu – A great bowling effort from both seamers and spinners helped Nepal beat UAE by 31 runs in the 2nd practice match at the Sharjah Cricket Ground on March 7.

Sompal lead the wicket taking duty from the front and Jitendra and others supported him well as Nepal restricted UAE for 118 runs after posting a moderate total of 149 runs with contribution from Vice Captain Gyanendra Mall and Captain Paras Khadka who contributed 52 and 32 runs respectively.

Sompal who took 2 wickets in the game against Netherland repeated his good form taking 3 wickets. Jitendra,Sagar and Basanta took two wickets each however Sagar was economical given just 14 runs from his four overs. Fayayaz Ahmed was the only good going batsman for UAE as he scored a 52 runs but couldn’t win the game for his team.

First inning:  Nepal: 149/8 (20 overs)  Gyanendra Malla 52 (35), Paras Khadka 32 (28), Shakti Gauchan 15*(6), Basanta Regmi 10 (8), Sagar Pun 10 (9)  Manjula Guruge 1/14, Kamran Shazad 1/23, Amjad Javed 1/25   Second inning:  UAE: 118/10 (19.4 overs)  Fayyaz Ahmed 52 (40), Abdul Rehman 12 (15), Rohan Mustafa 12 (22) Sompal Kami 3/22 (4 overs), Sagar Pun 2/14 , Basanta Regmi 2/22,  Jitendra Mukhiya 2/22 ,Shakti Gauchan 1/29   Result: Nepal won the match by 31 runs.

Nepal will play their first official practice match against Ireland on March 14 and against UAE on March 15.
