Bowlers shine as Nepal win by 6 wicket

Nepal defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets at AIT Ground to enter into the semis of ACC U19 Elite Cup being held at Thailand. Nepal chased the target of 125 run just in 26.3 overs with loosing 4 wickets.

During the chase, Fazrul Khan started the inning with two huge sixes before he got on on 14 of 10 balls. Then Naresh Budayer and Pradeep Airee took the game to the end. Naresh Budayer was dropped twice when he was on 0 and 4 but remained unbeaten on 42 run of 48 balls.

Other batsmen Subash Khakurel 23(51), Sagar Pun (8) and Captain Prithu Baskota (9) contributed while chasing the target. This is a third win in a succession for Nepal. With the three win and 1 match to be played against the host nation, Thailand on Saturday, 5th Feb. It is almost confirmed that Nepal has enters in to semis without any hiccups.

“We bowled line to line and the spinners Bhuvan and Rahul did just the right thing. No doubt we would have struggled batting first because for 90 minutes in the morning the wicket was very difficult,” says victorious coach Jagata Tamata, “Batting we could have a little better but Afghanistan thought pace was the answer today when keeping wides down was more important.”

Every one loving and following Nepali Cricket were aiming a huge match today. Expectation were huge from both sides. When the coin was tossed up in the air, there was no hesitation for Nepali U19 Captain to chose field first.

Pace bowler Avinash Karn started the inning with a cracker on his first delivery to clinch a wicket. Then after, Nepali bowlers and fielders were upto the mark as Afghanistan were tottering and wickets were cheaping down frequently. They could only manage 125 runs and were bowled under 42.3 overs. Only few batsmen could manage some runs on the board. M.Paak scored 30 runs for Afghanistan.

For Nepal, bowlers were firing up at both end. Avinash Karn took 3 vital wickets ,Rahul BK and Pradeep Aire took 2 wickets. While Krishna Karki and Bhuwan Karki took 1-1 wicket each.
