Bridgewater win over Lord Buddha

Bridgewater College recorded a thrilling two-run win over Lord Buddha Education Foundation, while Pentagon College eased to a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over Bagmati Modern College in the Spice-Classic Twenty20 Inter-college Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

In the first match, Bridgewater were all out for 131 runs with four balls to spare. Bridgewater, in reply, were able to make only 129-8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chandra Prakash Singh top scored for Bridgewater with 29-ball 25 which included four hits to the fence, while Sirish Pandey made 24 off 36 balls. Basant Khatri also chipped in 13-ball 16 and Bidur Chhetri made eight-ball 12. Arpan Kafle was the pick of the Lord Buddha bowlers with 4-21, while Pankaj Kochar bagged two wickets. Deepak Jha and Bigyan Pandey managed one wicket apiece.

In reply, Bigyan Pandey scored a fluent 47 and Arpan Kafle made run-a-ball 25 but their efforts turned out to be futile. Bigyan’s knock included three sixes and two fours, while Arpan struck three boundaries. Niraj Agrawal also contributed 15 and Shikendra Jha made 10.

Man-of-the-match Basant Khatri took 3-16 while Rabindra Yadav and Bidur Chhetri grabbed one wicket apiece for Bridgewater.

In another match, Shakti Bhandari and Santosh Bhatta shared six wickets between them to bowl out Bagmati for 57 runs in 14.2 overs.

In reply, Pentagon openers Shakti and Subhash Pradhan guided their team home in just 6.4 overs. Shakti remained unbeaten on 31, while Subash made 17 not out. Shakti hit six fours in his 24-ball cameo, while Subhash struck three fours in his 16-ball knock.

Prabeg Basnet (22) was the only Bagmati batsman to make any contribution in the hapless Bagmati batting lineup. Man-of-the-match Shakti returned with enviable figures of 3-4 from 1.2 overs, while Santosh took 3-6 from four overs for Pentagon. Kuldeep Khadka and Keshav Pant also bagged one wicket each.
