CAB Nepal Nominated for Peace and Sports Award

Cricket Association of Blind(CAB) Nepal has been nominated  for Peace and Sports Award 2013 under adaptive sports category . “CAB has been nominated for its work of using adaptive version of mainstream cricket in empowerment, rehabilitation and inclusion of blind boys and women in the society” read email from CAB President Pawan Ghimere to CricNepal.

CAB Nepal is one of three nominees for the category. Sorciers Baseball Club from Ivory Coast and Tola Sarama Association Developed in Mali are the other two. The winner will get trophy, medals and financial support.

This is second Nomination for International Award in past 4 months. CAB was also nominated for Social Inclusion category of Beyond Sports award a few months back.

We are very happy and hopefully with milestones like these the goverment and other organisation working will recognise our commitment and lend us a helping hand” expressed Pawan Ghimere in exclusive interview with Cricnepal.

“We are advocating social justice by empowering Blind People. Social Justice will lessen the social tension and help in creating peace” opined Ghimere when asked about how Blind Cricket had helped for peace.

Peace and sports  award is the initiative of International Peace and Sports Forum formed in 2008 in Monaco which is also the permanent venue of award ceremony of each year. The Peace and Sport Awards ceremony will be held during the Gala Evening of the Peace and Sport International Forum on Thursday, 7 November 2013, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert IIof Monaco and President and Founder of Peace and Sport, Mr. JoëlBouzou.
