CAN bids farewell

Kathmandu/Cricnepal:  Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Saturday bode farewell to the National Senior Cricket Team amidst a function in Capital. The team will leave for UAE on Sunday to participate in the ACC Trophy Elite that is scheduled to be held from October 3-13.

Speaking in the function, coach Pubudu Dassanayake said “The preparation had been good and we can expect a good result.”  This is the real test time for us and we need to prove it once again. We hope to continue the winning streak. We will play against quality teams like UAE, Hong Kong, Oman and Afghanistan, so it will be a good tournament for us, he added.

Extending wishes,  the president of Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN), Tanka Angbuhang said “The players need to boost up their morale and play for their and national pride. The performance they showed during the ICC World Cricket league Division 4 was highly appreciable. So you need to keep the same spirit.”

Nepal is placed in group B alongside Hong Kong, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and host United Arab Emirates.  Nepal will face UAE on 3rd October at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. Nepal will play Kuwait on 6th at Al Dhaid Cricket Village, Sharjah before taking on Saudia Arabia on 7th at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Nepal will play the last match of the group stage against Hong Kong on 9th at ICC Global Cricket Academy 1, Dubai.

Meanwhile, CAN also awarded the players who were the part of the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 Winning Team with cash prize of Rs. 30,000 each.
