CIVIL Bank defends the title of Inter Bank Beach Cricket

CIVIL Bank defended the title of Inter Bank Beach Cricket 2012 being organized in River Side Spring Resorts, Kurintar defeating Sunrise Bank by four wickets on Saturday.

Sunrise Bank who chose to bat first winning the toss, scored 55 runs in loss of two wickets off the maximum 5 overs.

Sujan Shrestha scored 28 runs off 7 balls while Nischal Basnet remained unbeaten at 17 runs off 15 deliveries. Raj Shrestha and Yugal Aryal claimed a wicket each for CIVIL.

In reply, CIVIL Bank chased the target in 4.1 overs losing only a wicket. Bhola Bista remained not out at 33 runs off 14 balls while Nishesh KC scored 9 runs off 9 balls. Jyoti Kandel picked up a wicket for Sunrise.

Earlier in the day, Sunrise Bank defeated Himalayn Bank by 4 wickets. Himalayan defeated Nepal Investment Bank by 46 runs and defeated Jyoti Bikash Bank later by 3 wickets. Jyoti defeated Grand Bank by 13 runs, NMB Bank defeated Commerz & Trust Bank by 95 runs and edged Kumari Bank by 88 runs in another match, CIVIL Bank defeated Kumari Bank by 21 runs, Grand Bank defeated Nepal Investment Bank by 3 wickets while NB Bank defeated CIVIL Bank by 2 wickets.

In the first semi final, CIVIL bank who scored 65 runs in loss of 4 wickets in 5 overs defeated Jyoti Bikash Bank(24 for 3 in 5 overs) by 41 runs. While in the second semi final, NMB Bank scoring 32 for 5 in 4.2 overs lost to Sunrise Bank(34 for 4 in 4.4 overs) by 1 wicket.

CIVIL Bank is the defending champion of the title. CIVIL previously won the tournament defeating Nepal SBI bank in the final last year.

Bishnu Poudel from NMB Bank was declared as player of the series for his 110 runs and seven wickets while the best female player was won by Prakriti Poudel from Jyoti Bikash Bank who took seven wickets. Sunrise Bank was declared the best cheering team while the fair play award went to NMB Bank.

Shangri-La Cricket Academy, the organizer of the beach cricket will organize Inter Corporate Beach Cricket in it’s second phase on April 20 and 21.
