Dipendra Singh Airee and Sita Rana Magar have been awarded as the year’s best male and female cricketers respectively in Cricket Players Association Nepal (CPAN) award held in Kathmandu on Friday.
Dev Khanal won the emerging player award while Paras Khadka and Ashmina Karmacharya were awarded special awards and moment of the year respectively.
Dipendra scored an ODI ton against PNG and a T20I ton against Malaysia in the year 2022, and also became the first player to be ranked in the top ten of ICC T20I ranking. Year’s best, Dipendra received NRs. One lakh thirty-two thousand.
Karan Kc, Rohit Paudel, Kushal Bhurtel, and Sandeep Lamichhane were the other nominees for the award.
Sita Rana Magar also received NRs. One lakh thirty-two thousand after being acknowledged as the best Female player of the year. The other nominees were Jyoti Pandey, Rubina Chhetri, Indu Barma, and Kabita Kunwar.
Having a promising start to his international career, Dev Khanal received an Emerging player of the year award. Dev played a vital role in Lumbini Province’s triumph in the National U-19 tournament and later captained the Nepal Under-19s team as well. He scored a couple of half-centuries in his first ten international matches.
Khanal received sixty-six thousand rupees surpassing other nominees, Sagar Dhakal, Lokesh Bam, Aadil Ansari, and Hiranmayee Roy.
Likewise, Nepal’s former captain Paras Khadka received a CPAN special award. Khadka is the first player to score a ton in both ODIs and T20Is. He also received NRs. One lakh thirty-two thousand.
Ashmina Karmacharya received the year’s moment of the year. She grabbed a fifer against UAE last year conceding just 10 runs. This award was decided via voting and Ashmina became the winner receiving 3719 votes. She received a sixty-six thousand cash prize and a trophy.
The event was organized at Akama Hotel, Dhumbarahi on Friday evening.
