The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has decided to award a sum of NRS 20,000 to each player for each victory in the ICC  Cricket World Cup League-2. According to Durga Raj Pathak, the acting secretary of CAN, the decision was approved during CAN’s special general assembly held last month.

Nepal won 19 matches and finished third in CWC League 2 to directly qualify for the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 in Zimbabwe. “Out of the 36 matches played, we emerged victorious in 19, with one ending in a tie. However, we have chosen to consider the tied match as a win and have decided to extend the reward for that match as well”, Pathak stated.

All players who have contributed to Nepal’s victories in the CWC League 2 matches since February 2020 will be eligible to receive a reward. Hence, even Paras Khadka will receive the prize.

Players who have been involved in all 20 matches (19 wins and one tie) will receive NRS 4,00,000. Players who were not included in the playing XI will also get a reward; hence, four players Karan KC, Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Paudel and Sompal Kami will be rewarded four lakhs rupees each.

Nepal won 11 out of the last 12 matches to ensure a top-three finish in the league. Nepal is set to battle in the World Cup Qualifier from the 18th of June to the 9th of July in Zimbabwe. Nepal is placed in Group A alongside West Indies, USA, Netherlands and Zimbabwe. Whereas Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Oman and UAE.
