Devika Palshikar appointed as consultant coach for Women’s Cricket Team

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has roped in Devika Palshikar as a consultant coach for Nepal National Women’s Cricket Team ahead of T20 World Cup 2024 Qualifiers.

As per CAN, Palshikar will join the team as the women’s team for the preparation of T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Qualifiers. She will be involved in the planning and execution of the team’s preparation.

Palshikar is a former Indian cricketer, who represented India in one Test match and 15 WODIs between 2006 and 2008.

From 2014 to 2016, she served as the assistant coach for the Indian women’s team. Additionally, in 2018, she took on the role of assistant coach for Bangladesh. Moreover, the 44 year old has also coached various Indian domestic teams.

Notebly, she served as the batting consultant for the Mumbai Indians during the first Women’s Premier League, in which Mumbai emerged as the champions in the inaugural season.

Samson Jung Thapa is the head coach of Nepalese national women’s cricket team.

CAN has already announced the list of 24-players to participate in closed camp for T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Qualifiers. The tournament is set to be played in Malaysia from August 31 to September 9.

Two finalists of the tournament will book a place in Global Qualifier to be held in Sri Lanka. Nepal are placed in Group A alongside Bahrain, Bhutan, UAE, Qatar and Malaysia.
