Dias praises Nepal’s Under-19 cricket team

KATHMANDU: Roy Luke Dias, former cricket coach of Nepal has congratulated the Nepali U-19 team and its coach Jagat Tamata as Nepal qualified to participate in next year’s ICC Under-19 World Cup which is going to be held in Australia.

Dias was coach for Nepal since last nine years. From his residence at Colombo, he said, “I am proud of the whole team for making it to the World Cup again.” Nepal secured its domain trailing Scotland in the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Ireland last week. In Dias’s tenure Nepal won ACC Elite Cup and qualified for the U-19 World Cup four times from 2002-2008 as the regional champions from Asia.

Nepal’s Under-19 team has won the World Cup Plate Championship once become runner up twice. Team Nepal is pooled in Group A against defending champions Australia, England, and Ireland in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup.
