Dipendra Singh Airee inspires Nepal to unbeaten streak in T20I Tri-Series

The Nepalese national cricket team has remained unbeaten in the ongoing T20I Triangular Tri-Series between Nepal, Hong Kong and UAE – thanks to Dipendra Singh Airee’s heroic performance.

Having already secured their spot in the final, Nepal managed to clinch a five-wicket victory over UAE in the last league match. Nepal achieved success in all four matches, with two victories against both Hong Kong and UAE.

Chasing a target of 165, Nepal completed a target in 19.2 overs losing five wickets. At the 15-over mark, Nepal’s score was 108/3 when their well-set batsman Aasif Sheikh (who had scored 62 runs from 50 balls) was dismissed. With 55 runs needed from the remaining 27 balls, Dipendra Singh Airee entered the fray. He made an immediate impact by hitting a six with his first ball and continued to consistently find the boundary until he secured the victory for Nepal.

Aasif Sheikh contributed 62 runs from 50 balls, while captain Rohit Paudel added 47 runs from 42 balls to the score. Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten with a quick 40 runs off 15 balls, which included six fours and one six.

In the first innings, after being asked to bat first at Mulpani Cricket Ground, UAE managed to put up a total of 164/7. Despite a modest beginning, Basil Hammed played a crucial role by scoring 45 runs off just 19 balls, including two fours and five sixes. Additionally, Vriitya Aravind contributed with a slower innings of 45 runs from 51 balls, and Asif Khan chipped in with 18 runs.

Sompal Kami and Abinash Bohara picked up two wickets each. Gulshan Jha and Karan KC also pocketed one wicket each.

On October 25, UAE and Hong Kong are scheduled to compete in the final league stage match, which will determine the last entrant into the final. The ultimate match is slated to take place on October 27.
