Dipendra Singh Airee sets new record in PM Cup history

Nepal’s star all-rounder, Dipendra Singh Airee, achieved a remarkable feat in the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Tournament. During Thursday’s match against Sudurpaschim, Airee delivered an outstanding bowling performance, securing a new record in his name.

During a game at Mulpani Cricket Ground against Sudurpaschim, Airee achieved a historic milestone by claiming seven wickets, setting a new record for the best-ever bowling figures in the history of the PM Cup. The right-arm off-break bowler dismantled Sudurpaschim’s batting lineup, securing the wickets of the first five batters and adding two more in his second spell.

Ultimately, he concluded with figures of 10-4-20-7, establishing a new record. This marks only the second instance of a bowler achieving a seven-wicket haul in the PM Cup.

Previously, Kumar Thapa of Madhesh Province accomplished this feat by taking seven wickets against Koshi Province at Mulpani Cricket Ground during the 2021 edition. He ended up with a figure of 8-2-22-7.

Airee’s seven-wicket haul was the 21st fifer (or more) of the tournament. 15 of them were taken by spinners.

Dipendra Singh Airee’s all-round performance (Seven wickets and 44 runs) helped Nepal Police Club beat Sudurpaschim by 68 runs. They remained unbeaten in the group stage and will face Tribhuwan Army in the final of the tournament.
