Eight Teams Enter the Second Round

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Eight teams have made their way to the pre quarter finals of 14th Soaltee Crowne Plaza supersixes tournament after 4 of teams lost their second match in a row and crashed out of the tournament. Bank of Asia , Standard Chartered Bank, NMB Bank, Civil Bank, host Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Century Bank, Nabil Bank and Nepal Bank Limited made it to the pre-quarterfinal on Monday; 7 of the eight teams being Banks.

 

Bank of Kathmandu(BoK) vs. Embassy of India-Group H

The first match of Group G saw last year’s runner up, Indian Embassy run over Bank of Kathmandu by four wickets

 

Janata Bank vs. Soaltee Crowne Plaza-Group B

Host Soaltee Crowne Plaza pulled off an easy victory against Janta bank by 34 runs,. Soaltee posted 74 runs on the board with loss of just one wicket ; Bikash Karna was unbeaten on 34 runs and Bivek Khadka contributed 26. Janata was bowled out for 40 runs in 4.1 overs. Chinta Magar and Bivek Khadka bagged two wickets each to restrict Janta to a low score.

Janta Bank lost to Civil Bank yesterday and two defeats in a row meaning that the tournament is over for them. Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza with this win qualify for the second round along with thieir Group B counterpart Civil Bank

Surya Nepal vs. Citizen Bank- Group C

Citizen Bank defeated Surya Nepal by 27 runs

 

NIC Bank vs. Nabil Bank – Group D

Nabil defeated NIC bank by five wickets which also paved way for Century Bank to make it to next round with a match in hand. NIC made 65/1 as Sujan Rai scored unbeaten 29 runs. Nabil achieved its target with three balls to spare after Laxman Joshi remained unbeaten on 32 runs.

 

 

Siddhartha Bank vs. Nepal Investment Bank – Group E

Siddhartha Bank saw off Nepal Investment Bank  with 6 wickets. Sunrise Bank had defeated Siddhartha bank in the first game. All three teams from the group can qualify for the second round, everything depending on the match between Nepal Investment Bank and Sunrise Bank.

Himalayan Bank vs. Bank of Asia – Group F

Defending champion Bank of Asia, in their first match of the tournament, thrashed Himalayan Bank by 5 wickets. Batting first Himalayan Bank made 43 runs for loss of 5 wickets, in reply Bank of Asia got to the target in 3.2 overs. With the second loss Himalayan Bank has crashed out of the tournament as Bank of Asia and Nepal Bank from the group qualify for the second round with a match in hand.

Moarang Auto Works (MAW) vs. NMB Bank – Group A

NMB and Standard Chartered Bank qualified for the second round as MAW lost their second match by 36 runs. Rabindra Chand scored 36 runs and Mohan KC remained unbeaten on 33 runs as NMB put on board 82 runs for loss of just one wicket. In reply, MAW was restricted to 46 runs losing two wickets. Amrit Thakur top scored for MAW with 22 runs

Sanima  Bank vs. Kantipur Media Group – Group G

Kantipur Media Group defeated Sanima Bank in the last game of the tournament by one wicket. Kantipur chased the 65 run target as scored runs for Kantipur, Kantipur Media group needed one runs of the last ball and with only one wicket in hand any

With qualifiers of four groups-A, F, B, D decided, the remaining league matches will see battles for the other 8 spots in the pre-quarter final.
