Steve Davis member of Elite Panel of ICC Umpires will be one of 16 umpires who will be officiating at the ICC World T20 Qualifiers in UAE.The Elite Panel of ICC Umpires is a panel of cricket umpires appointed by the International Cricket Council to officiate in Test matches and One Day Internationals around the world.
Steve Davis is one of the 12 umpires in the Emirates Elite Panel. He has stood behind the stumps judging the best in the world in over 100 ODI matches and nearly 50 tests. Davis will be working alongside 15 other umpires from Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires and ICC Associate and Affiliate Panel of International Umpires.
Nepal’s Buddi Bahadur Pradhan is one of 9 Umpires in the ICC Associate and Affiliate Panel of International Umpires. He will likely be part of the 16 man Officiating crew.
“I am delighted to be working with the associate and affiliate as well as international panel umpires as they bring fresh attitude and energy to umpiring,” said Davis to media about his appointment.
Umpire Davis believes that ICC T20 Qualifiers are very important tournament for the umpires for their development. “Our aim is to keep providing these umpires with access to updated training material, maintain a strong linkage to umpiring at the elite level and continue to support their development.” explained the 61 year old.
Steve Davis last worked together with the Umpires form Associate and Affiliate International Panel in ICC World Cricket League, Division 4 in Malaysia. He expressed that he was keen on knowing how they have progressed in the last year.
