EPS‚ Glacier in semi-finals

LALITPUR: Glacier and English Preparatory School (EPS) made it to the semi-finals of the sixth SNB Memorial Inter-school Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here at the Pulchowk Engineering College grounds today.

In the first quarter-final match, EPS beat Emile Academy by nine runs. EPS were dismissed for 100 runs in the last ball of their 20 overs. In reply, Emile could only muster 91 runs in 19 overs.

Kulbhusan Shah top scored for EPS with 30-ball 24 which included three hits to the fence while Avinash Giri contributed 17 off 20 deliveries. Suman Sijapati and Ayush Khanal claimed two wickets each while Ayush Regmi and Rupak Karn took one apiece for Emile.

Prakash Shah returned with a match-winning spell of 4-20 for EPS while Prakash Bista and Prajwol Rawal also snared two wickets apiece to help their team defend a low total. Ayush Khanal scored 18 while Suman Sijapati and Avinash Jha chipped in 15 runs each for Emile.

In the day’s another quarter-final match, Glacier dispatched hosts Adarsha Vidhya Mandir (AVM) by six wickets. AVM were all out for 99 runs in 17 overs. Glacier surpassed to total for the loss of four wickets in 16.5 overs.

Bishwojeet Shah scored 19 and Umanga Pradhan made 14 in AVM’s disappointing batting display. Subin KC finished with 3-13 and Sudeep Shrestha claimed two wickets for Glacier. Nafeez Sheikh and Madhu Giri also bagged one wicket each.

In reply, Nafeez top scored for Glacier with an unbeaten 44 while man-of-the-match Subin returned to make 23-ball 25. Nafeez hit six fours in his 38-ball knock. Navaraj Khatri also chipped in an unbeaten 14 runs. Utsav Koirala was pick of the AVM bowlers with 2-18 from three overs while Umanga Pradhan and Ishan Gautam grabbed one wicket apiece.
