Four Nepalese Cricketers among record 536 players for the CPL draft

Young leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and three other Nepalese cricketers are listed for the 2019 season of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) player draft on May 15.

Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee and youngster Rohit Kumar Paudel are the other three players listed on the draft.

Besides Nepalese players, 536 cricketers from around the World have been named for the 2019 CPL draft which is taking place in London on May 22.

Last year, Sandeep Lamichhane became the first Nepalese cricketer to be picked for CPL. He was picked for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

As per the online sources, the registered players in the draft list includes 35 players from Afghanistan, 18 from Australia, 19 from Bangladesh, 1 from Bermuda, 16 from Canada, 40 from England, 5 from Hong Kong, 1 from India, 4 from Ireland, 2 from Kenya, 4 from Nepal, 23 from New Zealand, 1 from Oman, 83 from Pakistan, 3 from Scotland, 48 from South Africa, 34 from Sri Lanka, 2 from UAE, 12 from the USA, 10 from Zimbabwe and 178 from the hosts West Indies.

Rohit Kumar Paudel had a great run of form in 2018 and his bat is still doing the talking in the middle order for Nepal Men’s team. He became the Nepal U19 captain during the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier 2019.

Meanwhile, Sompal Kami and Dipendra Singh Airee had a good domestic and international outing during 2018/19 season.
