Golden Gate sets CPL title clash with Triton International

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Golden Gate International College and Triton International College made it to the finals of the College Premier T20 League Qualifiers currently being held in Capital.

In the semi final matches played on Wednesday, Golden Gate defeated Laboratory College by seven wickets while Triton registered a five wicket victory over Kantipur City College.

Batting first, Golden Gate posted a huge score of 218 losing only four wickets in twenty overs. Paras Khadka guided the team with unbeaten 84 that included 14 fours and 3 sixes, the runs came off 28 just balls. Rom Shrestha 39, Sanjay Shrestha 37, Paresh Lohani 31 and Sunam Gautam 13 were some other major contributors. Thupten Lama took two wickets while Nabin Pradhan and Sabin Shrestha had one scalp each for Laboratory.

In reply, Laboratory managed to score only 157 runs losing seven wickets. Sharad Khadka top scored 38 runs while Milan Thapa and Sanjay Basnet added 29 and 20 each. Sunam Gautam claimed four wickets, Sanjam Regmi got one and Paresh Lohani took one for Golden Gate.

Paras Khadka was adjudged the player of the match.

In the second semifinal, Triton chased the target of 141 posted by Kantipur City College. With Nepal Under 19 International Rajesh Pulami scoring a half century Kantipur and Shibu Budhathoki adding a valuable 17 runs posted a total of 140 runs in allotted 20 overs. Man of the match Basanta Regmi claimed five wickets for Triton.

In reply, Triton chased the target losing five wickets. Niraj Basnet and Amit Shrestha top scored 33 runs each while Manjeet Shrestha and Sharad Vesawkar added 26 and 23 respectively. Rajesh Pulami, Nagendra Upadhayay, Krishna Karki, Md Riyaz Alam and Hasim Ansari had a wicket each.

The finals will be played on Saturday. The winner of the tournament will get qualified for the College Premier League that is to be organized in Bangalore in January.
