Goldens and Challengers victorious on the first day of DPL3

Melbourne – Kathmandu Goldens and Rupendehi Challengers opened their account on the first day of Dhangadhi Premier League 2019 defeating Dhangadhi Stars and Mahendranagar United respectively.

Gyanendra Malla’s Kathmandu Goldens defeated Sompal Kami’s Stars by four wickets in the first match as Amit Shrestha’s half-century went in vain. He hit four fours and two sixes for Stars while Rajali & Saurav Khanal added 28 and 25 to pile up 132 runs in their 20 overs.

Kathmandu Goldens reached the target in 19.5 overs, despite Rohan Mustafa’s four quick wickets (4-27). He dismissed top scorer AM Dabas for 29 runs then shattered Anil Kumar Sah’s stumps for 25 in the same over. Sonu Tamang and Yogendra Singh Karki were the other two victims.

Goldens needed 8 runs from 6 balls and Veteran Mehboob Alam hit the winning boundary.

Match 2: Rupandehi Challengers v Mahendranagar United

In the second match of the day, Rupandehi Challengers restricted Mahendranagar United for 109 runs to win the match by just two runs in a nail-biting encounter.

Earlier, the Rupandehi team were bowled out for 111 in 20 overs. Sumit Maharjan top scored with 27 runs. Sidhant Lohani was the pick of the bowler as he grabbed three scalps and Avinash Bohara took two wickets.

During the chase, Sharad Vesawkar’s Mahendranagar United lost the match by two runs. National team youngster Rohit Kumar Paudel managed run-a-ball 25 runs but Bikram Sob’s three and Mehra’s two wickets stopped from winning the low-scoring battle.
