Happy Land‚ VSS enter semi-finals

BIRGUNJ: Happy Land Secondary School of Region-I (Biratnagar), Vidhyasadan Secondary School (VSS) of Region-II (Birgunj), Scientific Educational Secondary School of Region-VII (Janakpurdham) and Sunrise Boarding School Region-VIII (Pokhara) advanced to the semi-finals of the Boost Inter-school Under-16 National Cricket Tournament here today.

Played at the Narayani Stadium, Sunshine Secondary School of Region-IV (Bhairahawa) defeated Vidhyasadan by one wicket. Despite the loss, the local side made it to the last four on better net run rate. Electing to bat first, Vidhyasadan scored 133-9 in their allotted 20 overs with Mohammad Arif Shesh contributing 23 runs. Bijay Sonar scored an unbeaten 40 as Sunshine overcame the total in 18.4 overs losing nine wickets.

Sunrise hammered Mangal Prasad Higher Secondary School of Region-V (Nepalgunj) by 80 runs. Opting to bat first, Sunrise scored a mammoth 162-7 in 20 overs and restricted Mangal Prasad for 81 in 13.1 overs. Player-of-the-match Bipin Tiwary scored 82 and picked up three wickets in Sunrise’s win.

Scientific dispatched Sunrise Secondary School of Region-VI (Baitadi) by 79 runs at the Siddheshwor Cricket grounds. The Janakpur-based School scored 155-9 with Sushant Mandal contributing 43 and defended the total successfully restricting the Baitadi-based School for 76 in 14 overs.

Vidhyasadan will take on Scientific and Happy Land will meet Sunrise in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
