Host GCA into semis

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Both the teams of the host Greenland Children Academy (GCA) entered the semifinals of the ongoing Wai Wai Women´s Regional Selection T-20 Cricket Tournament on Friday. GCA Blue qualified as the winner of Group B while the Red team qualified as the runner-up of Group A.

Along with the host, Rajan Memorial also qualified for the semifinal spot from Group B.

GCA Blue beat Rajan Memorial by 25 runs in the match played at the Sainik School Ground, Bhaktapur. GCA Blue opted to bat first winning the toss and scored 131 runs in allocated 20 overs losing five wickets. Sangeeta Gauchan scored 29 runs for the host.

Rajan Memorial could manage to score only 106 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Despite the loss, Rajan Memorial qualified for the semifinal as the runner-up of Group B.

In another match, GCA Red defeated Tribhuvan School by two wickets. Winning the toss, Tribhuvan opted to bat first and managed to score only 70 runs losing all wickets in 13.4 overs. GCA Red reached the target of 71 runs losing only eight wickets in 17.5 overs. Neema Tamang was the highest scorer for the winning team with 19 runs.

GCA Red will next meet GCA Blue in the first semifinal match and Baluwatar Club will lock horns with Rajan Memorial in another semifinal.
