Host SPA storm into quarter final

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Host Sudur Paschimanchal Academy(SPA) registered a 41 runs victory over Siddhanath Multiple College, Kanchanpur on Wednesday to enter into the quarter final of The Hotel Devotee SPA Cup.

Opening pair Subendu Pandey and Jiwan Sunar provided a good start to the host adding a partnership of 35 runs. Pandey was later bowled by Prakas Saud for 14 runs. Bhuwan Karki and Sunar shared another 35 runs for third wicket before Sunar was run out. Sunar scored 31 runs off 29 balls with three sixes.

Bhuwan Karki played a responsible innings scoring 31 runs with three boundaries and a six. Lower order batsman Arjun Chapagain and Sandeep Khadka added 12 and 13 runs respectively while other didn’t make enough runs as SPA scored a total of 142 runs.

Rajendra Chand and Prakash Saud claimed two wickets each for Siddhanath. Prakash Thapa and Dinesh Agri shared one each.

In reply, Sidhhanath was bowled out for 100 runs in 18.5 overs. Dinesh Agri top scored for Siddhanath with 21 runs while Dhani Saud and Raghubir Sunar added 17 and 14 each. Man of the match Bikash Bom picked up four wickets for SPA.

Meanwhile, the tournament was officialy inaugurated today by former prime minster Sher Bahadur Deuwa. In the function, Deuwa talked over the necessity of an international level cricket ground in the region. “I will try my best to make it happen”, he added.

While, Subash Shahi, director of the tournament highlighted the importance of the tournament and the role that the tournament has played for uplifting the standard of cricket in the region and in the country. “International level of cricket ground is a necessity”, he added.

On Thursday, Triton International College, Kathmandu will face Tripura Sundari Multiple College in the first match while in the second match, NASA International College, Kathmandu will play Sunrise Higher Secondary School, Kanchanpur.
