Nepal Sports Journalists’ Forum(NSJF) is organising Sports Award since a long time. This is a good initiative to promote the Players and their achievements.
In a country like Nepal where we hardly earn Name and fame in Sports, NSJF Sports means a lot for the Players. The development of the game and the infrastructure is growing like a Turtle walk in the country & that’s too surrounded by Politics.
There were Eight Awards in 2069th Edition of NSJF Pulsar Sports Award yesterday. Cricket dominated in four of them. Coach of Nepali Cricket Team – Pubudu Dassanayake grabbed the best Coach of the Year. Special Award went to Pawan Ghimire for his hard work to promote Blind Cricket in Nepal. Similarly, Bikram Bahadur Rana won the Best Para Athlete award.
Meanwhile, Paras Khadka, Skipper of Nepali Cricket Team won the Player of the Year(Male) but unfortunately lost the Popular Year of the Year title with Jharana Gurung of Wushu by a quite margin of Votes. There were five nominees in the category. Jharana Gurung (wushu), Shirish Gurung (Swimming), Keshari Chaudhary (Athletics), Paras Khadka (Cricket) & Jagit Shrestha (Football).
The total votes received by the players via SMS and Facebook:
Jharana Gurung (Wushu) – 71,806
Shirish Gurung (Swimming) – 14,560
Keshari Chaudhary (Athletics) -10,680
Paras Khadka (Cricket) – 9,502
Jagit Shrestha (Football) – 2,034
Many Sports lover and fans are reacting to this voting and the voting system done by the organisers. Not this year only, Last year as well, we had the same issue against NSJF. But Jharana Gurung was the winner because she got 71k voting and she wouldn’t have won if she was not associated with any sports. We must appreciate her achievement and congratulate her as well.
