Ideal‚ Dreamland advance

LALITPUR: Ideal English School and Dreamland School entered the quarter-finals of the sixth SNB Memorial Inter-school Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here today.

In Group ‘A’ match at the Pulchowk Engineering College grounds, Ideal defeated Deep Jyoti by three wickets, while Dreamland beat Galaxy by 17 runs under Parabola Method to make it to the last eight from Group ‘B’. A five-wicket haul from man-of-the-match Darshan Chalise helped Ideal bundle out Deep Jyoti for 73 runs in 13.4 overs. Pratik Thakuri took three while Ashish Jaishwal had one scalp for Ideal. None of the Deep Jyoti batsmen could make runs in double figures.

Ideal too struggled in their chase but overcame the target for the loss of seven wickets with seven balls to spare. Pratik Thakuri made 12 and Nishant Bhattari remained unbeaten on 11 for the winners. Bhaskar Amagai and Santosh Parajuli got two wickets each for Deep Jyoti with Raju Shrestha also picking up one.

Later, Dreamland made 97 runs in 20 overs before being all out in the last ball of their innings. Galaxy were 43-6 in 11.3 overs in their chase when rain stopped the match with no further play possible. As Galaxy needed 61 runs during the stage according to Parabola Method, Dreamland went on to win the match by 17 runs. Man-of-the-match Milan Karki and Sudin KC picked up two wickets each for Dreamland. Sushant Pun also got one scalp.

Suyog Tamrakar (17) and Ayush Shrestha (10) were the only batsmen to make runs in double figures for Galaxy. Earlier, Aditya Pandey grabbed four wickets as Dreamland were dismissed for a low total. Sushant Pun made 24 runs from 40 deliveries, while Milan scored 17. Pasang Sherpa and Saugat Basnet also picked up two wickets each for Galaxy.
