India defeated Nepal; Nepal out of U19 Asia Cup 2012

India U19 defeated Nepal by 81 runs(D/L method) to make a semifinal spot of ACC U19 Asia Cup 2012 at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur today.

Nepali Batsmen had a chance to prove their batting talent after their bowlers did a terrific job dismissing India for 176 runs in 45.2 overs in a most win match for both team.

But, the Indian bowlers were too good for the Nepal since the start of the chase. The target was reduced to 173 in 47 overs after the rain interruption for an hour. Indian bowlers struck frequently to put Nepal under pressure. Only Bhuwan Karki’s 22 runs and R Pulami Magar’s 17 runs showed some fight but it was never enough as they were bowled out in 27.3 overs for 91 runs and India won the match by 81 runs as per the D/L method.

Left arm Orthodox bowler, Vikas Mishra was superb with his bowling today as he took 4 wicket in his 8 overs. Harmeet Singh, MM Sayyed & Sandeep Sharma grabbed 2 wickets each.

Before, Nepal invited India to bat first after they won the toss in the crucial final match of the Group A. Both had defeated the home team Malaysia and shared equal 3 points in the group table.

Bhuwan Karki & Rahul Vishwokarma’s heroic bowling display helped Nepal to dismissed the Indian team below 200 runs. Both of them took 3 wickets. Sagar Pun bowled his heart out and was rewarded with 2 wickets. Prithu Baskota and Avinash Karn took 1 wicket each.

B Aparajith played a 55 runs inning with 2 fours from 87 balls while Skipper U Chand scored 47 runs from 74 balls (7 fours , 1 six). They both had a 64 run partnership for second wicket. Besides these two, Nepali bowlers dominated rest of the lineup and bowled them for 176 in 45.2 overs.

Vikas Mishra (India Under-19s) was awareded with the Man of the Match trophy. With this loss, Nepal are out of the tournament while India go through Semis.
