India thrash Pakistan to maintain their ODI World Cup winning record 

Indian cricket team has thrashed Pakistan to continue their winning streak in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023. In the match held at, Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, India emerged victorious by seven wickets to grab their third consecutive win.

With this victory, India continued their impeccable record against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup, notching their eighth win in as many meetings. Pakistan are yet to secure a victory against India in eight ODI World Cup matches

Chasing a modest total of 192 runs, India completed the chase in 30.3 overs losing just seven wickets. Skipper Rohit Sharma was the star of the chase as he smacked 63-ball 86 runs with six fours and six sixes.

Shreyas Iyer finished things with a boundary and remained unbeaten for 53 runs. KL Rahul also finished not out scoring 19 runs. Earlier, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill also scored 16 runs.

Shaheen Afridi grabbed two wickets for Pakistan while Hassan Ali pocketed one.

Earlier, Invited to bat first, Pakistan were bowled out for 191 runs in 42.5 overs. Despite being 155/2 at one stage, Pakistan lost eight wickets for just 36 runs.

Skipper Babar Azam top-scored with 50 runs before being knocked out by Siraj. Mohammad Rizwan missed his half-century by one run as he was bowled out by Bumrah. Openers Imam ul Haq and Abdullah Shafique assisted 36 and 20 runs respectively.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya grabbed two wickets each.

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka and Netherlands in the previous match whereas India emerged victorious against Australia and Afghanistan.

India will face Bangladesh in the next match on 19 October before Pakistan will encounter Australia on 20 October.
