Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN) and Indian Embassy of Kathmandu on Tuesday jointly organized the press meet and informed about the Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s visit to Nepal.
Dhoni will arrive Kathmandu on Saturday Morning via the flights of Air India. He will spend some time and interact with the U-19 and senior players in the Tribhuwan University Ground. Dhoni will head for lunch to the Indian Embassy in the noon and then an interactive session will be held for the CAN officials, press and other guests at Hotel Yak and Yeti in the evening, informed Apoorva Srivastava, the Indian Embassy’s spokesperson.
Asked about if Dhoni’s prior visit was to Pashupatinath, Srivastava said Dhoni would be here for both the reasons. We have talked with him about the Nepali Cricket and being a cricket person, his visit would also responsibly be towards cricket. She added.
Dhoni will visit Pashupatinath on Sunday Morning and return on the same day.
“It will help on strengthening the relation with India, and whatever Indian Embassy have been doing is of great value for us. This visit will certainly help on the development of our cricket and we will discuss further about what can be done to create a good relation between Indian Cricket and Nepali Cricket.” said Tanka Angbuhang, the president of CAN. This visit will also eye the issues about promoting Nepal as a neutral venue for cricket and sports tourism, added Angbuhang.
Security arrangements will be made and people can visit the TU Ground and the entrance will be made free. CAN also requested the media and fans to co-operate in making Dhoni’s visit a success.
Earlier in 1999, Kapil Dev visited Nepal and was followed by Sunil Gavaskar in 2004.
