Janakpurdham, Baitadi Into Semis

Region No 7 (Janakpurdham) and Region No 6 (Baitadi) advanced into the semifinals of the MG Trophy T20 National Cricket Tournament on Wednesday registering back-to-back wins in Birgunj, Parsa.

Janakpurdham beat Region No 1 (Biratnagar) by two runs while Baitadi defeat Region No 3 (Kathmandu) by 54 runs.

Winning the toss, Janakpurdham opted to bat first and scored 128 runs losing seven wickets in 20 overs. Sobhakant Pandey and Raj Moammad scored equal 21 runs for Janakpurdham. Puspa Thapa and Ajay Rajbansi were able to take two wickets each in the inning.

In reply, Janakpurdham restricted Biratnagar at 126 runs off 19.3 overs. Anil Mandal and Sushant Mandal took two wickets each against Biratnagar. Ashish Lama scored highest 28 runs for the losing team. Anil Mandal was adjudged the man-of-the-match.

In another match, Baitadi scored 158 runs off 20 overs losing nine wickets after winning the toss. Man-of-the-match Naresh Budaayer scored quick 75 off 48 balls including nine boundaries and three sixes.

Lokendra Chand scored 40 off 30 balls to guide the team into huge total. Prasanna Shakya took three wickets for Kathmandu in his four over spell conceding 24 runs.

Santosh Bhatta´s four wickets haul in four overs helped Baitadi restrict Kathmandu at 104 runs in 15.1 overs. Shakya scored 34 runs off 18 balls for the losing team.
