Asia Cup 2023

Jasprit Bumrah to miss the match against Nepal

India’s star fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, will be unavailable for the match against Nepal on Monday, September 4.

As per the reports, Bumrah has flown back to India due to personal reasons. However, He will be available for the further part of the tournament.

Given that the Associate team will be the opposition, and considering the weather forecast, which suggests significant rainfall, it’s unlikely that the team will feel the absence of his contributions on the field. Either Mohammad Shami or Prasidh Krishna is expected to replace him in the XI.

Jasprit Bumrah completed his five-for with the wicket of Brydon Carse, England vs India, 1st ODI, The Oval, London, July 12, 2022

Nepal faced big trouble against Pakistani fast bowlers in the first match of the tournament. Nepalese batters struggled against the pace and swing and were bowled out for a mere 104 runs, facing a humungous defeat of 238 runs.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s first-ever ODI match against India is likely to be interrupted by rain. Persistent rainfall in Pallekele since yesterday has sparked worries about the match’s destiny. The weather forecasts for the area haven’t provided much comfort for cricket fans, with Google Weather indicating an 80% likelihood of rain and thunderstorms in Pallekele, Kandy, on the day when the India-Nepal clash is scheduled.

Given the current situation, there’s a significant risk of the entire match being cancelled due to the rain. The match starts at 3:15 PM (NST) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
