Kailali Multiple College and A.V.N. enter quarter final

Cricnepal/Dhangadi: Kailali Multiple College and Aishwarya Vidya Niketan(A.V.N.), Kailali entered into the quarter finals of the ongoing The Hotel Devotee SPA Inter College Cricket Tournament in Dhangadi with respective victories in the second day of the tournament today.

Kailali defeated Tikapur Multiple College by 21 runs while A.V.N. recorded an easy nine wickets victory over Ghodaghodi Multiple College, Surkhet.

Invited to bat first, Prakash Bhatta scored 20 runs off 22 while Gyanendra Kshetri 16, Suresh Dhami 11 and Raman Bom 11 remained the other major contributors as Kailali put a total of 101 runs losing their eight wickets in allotted 20 overs. 21 runs were awarded as extras.

Chandra Rimal picked up three wickets while Nirmal Saud, Keshar Khadka, Deepak Subedi and Keshar Kunwar took one each for the losing side.

In reply, Tikapur were bundled for just 80 runs. Madhav Oad and Devendra Tamata with the score of 12 each were the only batsman to score a double digit.

Kailali’s pick of the bowler was Nirajan Bohara as he took important three wickets conceding only 7 runs in his 4 overs spell. Bohara was also adjudged the player of the match. Aadesh Chaudhary and Binod Lama took two wickets each while Sanjay Pant and Gyanendra Kshetri shared a scalp each.

While, in the second match, Ghodaghodi went to bat first after winning the toss. With a fine bowling attack from A.V.N. Ghodaghodi were restricted for just 57 runs in 13.5 overs. Naresh Thapa and Kamal Raj Joshi grabbed three wickets each for A.V.N. Ghan Shyam Chaudhary picked up two while Basu Giri and Amit Padal had one each. Dinesh Khadka top scored for Ghodaghodi with 17 runs while Man Deep Suri contributed 15 runs. Four of the batsman went out without scoring while others couldn’t score enough runs.

In reply, A.V.N. chased the target in just 6 overs. During the chase, A.V.N. lost the first wicket in the fifth ball of the innings at the score of 2. Dharam Khadka and Sagar Magard then played a winning partnership of 59 runs and led the team to victory. Khadka remained unbeaten at 18 while Magar was not out at 36 off 15. Khadka hit two fours and Magar scored equal fours and four sixes.

The Hotel Devotee SPA Cup is a knockout based inter college cricket tournament. The tournament is also known as the highest cash prize tournament. The winner of the tournament wins cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs while runner up bags Rs. 1 lakh.

On Wednesday, the host SPA will face Siddhanath Multiple College, Kanchanpur. The official opening ceremony will also be held tomorrow as the ceremony on Friday was postponed due to the heavy rainfall.
