Kathmandu Knights outplays Janakpur Royals

Kathmandu Knights have bagged their third win in the Nepal T20 League, thrashing Janakpur Royals by massive .90 runs. Royals were bundled out for 90 runs, the tournament’s second-lowest score, chasing a huge total of 180.

Royals had the worst possible start after Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed Trevon Griffith and Chadwick Walton for a duck in the first over. The situation worsened as they lost four more wickets, including inform Sundeep Jora as well as Samiullah Shinwari, and were down to 20/6 within the seventh over. 

Sharafuddin Ashraf and Sompal Kami then shared 54 runs to help Janakpur get past the lowest score of the tournament. Ashraf scored 37, while Sompal made 21 runs.

Abinash Bohara was the star with the ball picking up four wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai grabbed a pair of wickets, while Anil Kharel, Basir Ahamad and Kamal Airee pocketed one wicket each. 

Invited to bat first, Knights piled up 180 on the board after a brilliant stand between Ryan Burl and Sunam Gautam. Virandeep Singh (9) and Gyanendra Malla (0) walked back swiftly before Sharafuddin Ashraf dismissed Alex Blake (20) in the final ball of the powerplay.

Gautam and Burl then shared 84 runs for the fourth wicket. Gautam scored 62, whereas Burl remained unbeaten for 61 runs from 40 balls.

Jitendra Mukhiya was the pick of a bolwer for Janakpur grabbing three wickets. Sharafuddin Ashraf and Trevon Griffith also picked up one wicket each.
