KHMC thrash Information Technology; ACME triumph

KATHMANDU:
Kantipur Hotel Management College (KHMC) and Acme Engineering College advanced to the quarter-finals of the Martyr Dil Bahadur Ramtel Running Cup Cricket tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

KHMC thrashed College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE) by 10 wickets in the first match. Put into bat first, CITE were bowled out for 86 runs in 19.4 overs before KHMC overcame the total in 13.4 overs without losing any wicket. Rahul Kunwar made an unbeaten 45 and Sri Krishna Shrestha remained unbeaten on 26 to guide KHMC safely to home.

Earlier, Binod Kandel and Ram Rawal scored 13 runs apiece for CITE. Man-of-the-match Avishek Sapkota was the pick of the KHMC bowlers with 4-15 from his 3.4 overs. He was ably supported by Ujjwal Giri 3-9.

In another match, Acme thrashed Himalayan Institute of Science and Technology (HIST) by 70 runs. Electing to bat first, Acme scored 139-8 in 20 overs and packed HIST for 69 in 18.1 overs. Anuj Joshi made 24 and Mahendra Dhami contributed 22 for Acme. Dhananjay Joshi picked up three wickets for Acme.

In reply, man-of-the-match Ishwor Basnet took 5-7 as HIST surrendered meekly. Yogendra Bohora (12) and Dhananjay (10) were the only HIST players to score in double figures.
