KIST, CCRC into quarters

KATHMANDU, June 21: KIST Medical College and CCRC ´B´ have secured their quarterfinal spots in the 4th CCRC ICC T-20 Tournament from Group D as Pioneer remains at the bottom of the table after losing to CCRC ´B´ on Tuesday.

In the match played at TU Ground, Kirtipur, CCRC ´B´ thrashed Pioneer by nine wickets. Pioneer had lost its first match against KIST on Monday.

Winning the toss, Pioneer opted to bat first and scored 87 runs in 19.4 overs. Sagar Gupta took five wickets in his four overs conceding 11 runs. Nischal Pandey, Irfan Ansari and Bijesh Shrestha shared a wicket each.

Parth Shukla was the highest scorer for the losing team with 15 runs off 22 balls. Manish Jha scored 13 runs off 19 balls.

CCRC ´B´ lost only a wicket in course of chasing 88 runs for the victory. Opener Somesh Yadav´s 30 runs off 27 balls with three boundaries guided the team to victory. Nischal Pandey scored 24 runs off 31 balls with a huge six. Rajesh Pulami was not out with eight runs. Bishwo Karki took a wicket for Pioneer.

In another match, Bridge Water International College beat ACE College by 120 runs. Winning the toss, ACE invited Bridge Water to bat first and it cost them to loose the match. Bridge Water scored 176 runs losing four wickets as opener Subendu Pandey scored unbeaten 108 runs off 63 balls. Pandey struck 10 boundaries and six huge sixes for his century innings. Pandey currently is in the U-19 closed-camp organized by Cricket Association of Nepal.

Suman Uday scored 33 runs off 37 balls. Kushal Rajkarnikar, Ayush Sharma, Avash Ghimire and Saugat Karki took a wicket each.

Prasanna Shakya´s four-wicket haul in four overs helped restrict ACE at 56 runs off 14.0 overs. Dipankar Yonjan grabbed three wickets while Prakash Bista and Jay Prakash Gupta took one wicket each.

Binod Singh Bhandari was the only ACE batsman to reach the double figure margin. Bhandari scored 18 runs off 24 balls, including a boundary.
