Kushal Bhurtel claims maiden List-A six-wicket haul

Kushal Bhurtel delivered a career-best figure of 6 for 40 runs against the United Arab Emirates A side in ACC’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup at P. Sara Oval in Colombo on Wednesday.

Invited to field first, Kushal emerged as the standout bowler for Nepal, achieving a remarkable milestone by securing his maiden five-for in List A cricket. This feat is particularly noteworthy considering that he had previously only managed to pick up four wickets in his 52 matches.

“I’ve been constantly honing my skills by practicing in the nets, and today I got the opportunity to showcase my talent on the field. The wicket also played in my favor, and I’m delighted that my performance has contributed to the team’s success. Moving forward, I intend to bowl even more and continue making a impact for the team,” Bhurtel said to the broadcaster during the innings break.

“The pitch is bit slow and turning, we need to stick to our plan. As a opener, we should look not to give wickets during the chase,” he further added.

Nepal’s disciplined bowling effort resulted in UAE-A being bowled out for a mere 157 runs in 44.0 overs, showcasing the team’s dominance in the match. The spinners picked up all ten wickets in the match.
