Kushal Bhurtel to miss a match against UAE

Nepal national cricket team’s opener Kushal Bhurtel will miss the last match against UAE in the ongoing Tri-Series under CWC League 2. Bhurtel picked up a groin injury in his left foot.

Bhurtel was adjudged as player of the match in the first match of the series after scoring a fifty against PNG. As per the source, Kushal played two matches despite being uncomfortable. He was dismissed for five and a golden duck in the next two matches.

Sundeep Jora will replace him in the squad, as per the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). With Bhurtel missing, Gyanendra Malla is expected to open the inning. Bhurtel is assumed to be fit for the last Tri-Series of the CWC League 2 in Nepal itself.

Nepal needs to win five out of five matches to finish third in the table and book a direct spot in the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. They need three wins to secure their ODI status. Nepal currently is in sixth position in the table, having 30 points from 31 matches. UAE are one step ahead of Nepal, having one more point (31) playing equal matches. The USA are in the fifth spot with 35 points.
