Mahesh Chhetri back for T20 World Cup Qualifiers

Kathmandu – Mahesh Chhetri with his impressive show in the recently held National T20 Tournament with both bat and gloves made it to the 15 man squad for the ICC World T20 Qualifiers. Subash Khakurel is also in the squad and Nepal will go into the tournament with two genuine keepers.

Chhetri last played for Nepal in Asian Games in November 2010. He was also part of Nepal U25 which played SAARC T20 in Maldives in November 2011 and since then hasn’t featured in the red and blue.

CAN office head – Chhumbi Lama informed about the selection of 15 man squad through a press release today.

Young pacers Avinash Karn and Jitendra Mukhiya are also in the first fifteen along with Amrit Bhattarai.

The other names in the team Paras Khadka(c) , Gyanendra Malla(vc), Sharad Vesawkar, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Rahul Viswakarma, Binod Bhandari, Pradeep Airee, Anil Mandal and Sagar Pun.

Off spinner, Sanjam Regmi has been excluded once again and Prithu Baskota is missing out due to his ankle injury.

Naresh Budhayer, Ramnaresh Giri, Bhwan Karki and Chandra Sawad are in the reserve players list. Chandra Sawad was one of star performers for Nepal last year edition of the tournament.

Nepal will feature in ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in UAE November this year. Nepal are in group B along with arch rivals Afghanistan, Netherlands, Scotland, Bermuda, PNG, Denmark and Kenya.
