Malaysia out of the tournament despite a win against Qatar

The Malaysian national cricket team has been eliminated from the ACC Premier Cup despite a win against Qatar in their last group match.

Malaysia were victorious by three wickets and managed four points from four matches. From the same group, Nepal already has managed five points, and Either Saudi Arabia or Oman will surpass Malaysia after their clash.

Opting to bat first in a 35-over contest, Qatar managed 215/8. Imal Liyanage topped the scorecard with 56 runs, whereas Khurram Shahzad and Ikramullah Khan added 41 and electrifying 23-ball 39.

For Malaysia, Muhammad Wafiq and Rizwan Haider pocketed two wickets each.

In reply, Malaysia chased the target with five balls to spare, losing seven wickets. Syed Aziz was the star with the bat, scoring 80 runs from just 66 balls. Ahmad Fai and Khizar Hayat also contributed quick 33 and 25* runs respectively. 

Ikramullah Khan and Zaheer Ibrahim pocketed two wickets each for Qatar.

Malaysia started the tournament with a loss against Nepal. They defeated Saudi Arabia in the second match and were defeated by Oman in the next match.

Meanwhile, the Qatar team is winless in three matches and will wrap up the tournament by facing Nepal in the last encounter.
