Malaysia Stun Nepal to Take Third Position

Nepal ended its ACC Elite Cup in a low note losing to Malaysia by 6 wickets in the third place play off of the tournament played today at the Byaeumas Oval Ground, Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia who were thrashed by Nepal in the group wickets came on top today getting 119 run target with more than 11 overs to spare. This was the first win for Malaysia against Nepal in the U19 level.

Winning the toss and Nepal decided to bat first. Nepal made a decent start with Nischal and Amit who added 17 runs for first wicket. Nischal eventually dismissed for 12. Harishankar then joined Amit in the middle and at one moment Nepal was cruising along with 61 runs for one wicket in 14th over. Nepal lost the other nine wickets for 57 runs.

The duo of Amit and Harishankar had added 44 runs as Harishankar departed for 25 runs. Nepal kept constantly losing wickets while Amit anchored the innings from one end. He eventually was dismissed on 32 as the 6th wicket. None of the other batsmen were able to register double digit score as Nepal folded for 118 in 44 overs

Koligan Muthu picked up three wickets for Malaysia while Varun Ramesh, Pawandeep Singh and Shyahadat Ramli got two wickets each.

Defending 118 Nepal made early inroads getting Vinay Singh for 4 in the first over. Virandeep Singh departed for 10 at Malaysia’s score of 39. Malaysia lost its third wicket on 53 as for 34 giving Karn second wicket of the match. Nepal was very much in the game at that point

Shayadat Ramli and Varun Nadesh added 49 runs for the fourth wicket to turn the game firmly in Malaysia way. Nepal eventually got Nadesh for 17. Ramli and Amiruddin then guided the home team to victory. Ramli made unbeaten 34 of 68 balls while Amiruddin contributed with 5.

Avinsah Karn got two wickets in the match and finished the tournament with 24 wickets in 6 matches. Prem Tamang and Ramnaresh Giri got one wickets each for Nepal.

Ramli was adjudged the player of the match for his all round skills.

Afghanistan Champions
Defending Champions defeated UAE in the final  by 10 wickets to win their second ACC U19 Elite Cup. Batting first UAE were knocked over for just 57 runs thanks to 4 wickets from Zia-ur-Rehman.

Chasing Hasmatullah  Sahidi guided his team home in just over 11 overs scoring 50 of 43 ball. Hasmatullahi had also got three wickets in the first innings to restrict UAE to very small total.He was  adjudged the player of the match.

UAE’s D’D Souza was declared the player of the tournament. He had scored 299 runs in the tournament with 4 half centuries and 9 wickets including 2 four wicket hauls.
