Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Morang and Saptari have won their respective matches of Purbanchal Regional Cricket Tournament being held at Biratnagar.
Morang defeated Illam by 139 runs in the match played Degree Campus. Winning the toss and batting first Morang put up a massive score of 240 runs in 35 over losing 9 wickets. Dhiraj Budathoki top scored with 40 runs while Puspa Thapa made 35. Mukesh Chaudhary and Hamen Rai picked up 3 wickets each for Illam. In repy Illam could manage only 101 rusn before getting all out in the 23rd over. Padma Chaudary made 31 runs for Illam, while Mukesh gave a fighting performance with the bat as well scoring 16 runs. But it was Morang’s bowlers who took the game away-Puspa Thapa and Manoj Mandal picked 3 wickets a piece while Ajay Rajbansi chipped in with 2. Puspa Thapa was declared the man of the match
In the other match played today at martyr’sGround Saptari rolled down Sunsari by 4 wicketsin a lw scoring game. batting first Saptari riding on a steady and unbeaten 18 by Sangam Dahal put up a small score of 59 runs. Rohit Singh took 4 wickets and kalicharna yadav picked up 3 to restrict Sunsari to low score In reply got to the target in 12 overs however lost 6 wickets in doing so, Sangam Dahal getting 4 of those 6. Saptari’s Rohit Chand was named the player of the match.
