Nation to Celebrate Flagday

Kathmandu – Nepalese Cricket team is playing their first ICC WorldCup event in Bangladesh this March. This will be their biggest achievement and outing in nation’s more than 60 years of cricket history.

In the last two years, Nepalese Cricket achieved a lot of success in One Dayers & Twenty20 format. They won the 2013 ICC World Cricket League Division Three – held in Bermuda and qualified for 2014 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand.

It was the month of November, 2013 and the history was to be written for Nepalese as Nepal finished third in The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier held in UAE and qualified for 2014 ICC World Twenty20. The last ball of the thrilling Quarter-final of that tournament defeating Hong Kong is still on everyone’s mind. The whole nation praised the effort which brought the glorious moment in the history of Nepalese cricket and Sports arena.

The victory united the whole nation. Although Constituent Assembly Election was being held in the country during the period, news media headlines mostly had cricket.

Everything came at the right time for the players and the governing body. Huge amount of support came from the corporate sectors and the government.

On 16th December 2013, CAN and Singapore’s Multinational Company BS Sports signed a three-year sponsorship deal. And as it was unveiled on March 2, 2014 in a function at Hotel Raddisson.

Similarly, on 3rd March, different personalities from different field shared their plan for the Flag Day at Hotel Radisson. Flag Day is all about supporting Nepali Cricket during this World Cup by wearing the National Jersey and if possible with the Flag.

Personalities like Anil Keshari Shah, Hari Bansha Acharya, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Pritu Baskota, Sanjam Regmi, Aamir Akhtar, Binod Das, Raymon Das Shrestha, Deepak Bista, Hemant Rana(Singer), Charu Chhadda & other were present on the programme.
