National U19 Cricket Tournament is set to start tomorrow. 9 Regional Teams will compete in the tournament to be played in usual League-cum-Knock out format. 20 matches of the tournament will be divided between 3 venues- TU, Pulchowk and Birendra Sainik Cricket Ground. The tournament is sponsored by Wai Wai.
9 Teams are divided into 2 groups Group A with 4 Teams and Group B with 5.
Group A has regions 1,2 3 and 4 and Group B accommodates the remaining team. Two teams from each group enter the semi final of the tournament. Region Number 8 Pokhara will take on Region No. 7 Janakpur in the opening match of tournament tomorrow which will be held at Pulchowk Engineering Cricket Ground.
The U19 national tournament will be the basis for selection of the national team. The national team then will take part in U19 Asia Cup in December to be held in UAE. Nepal will compete against the U19 teams of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan alongside Afghanistan, UAE, and Malaysia. Nepal qualified for the tournament finishing fourth in the ACC U19 Elite Cup held in Malaysia.
