Nepal defeats Hong Kong in a crucial ACC Women’s Premier Cup match

The Nepalese Women’s team are off to a flying start in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup. Nepal defeated Hong Kong by eight wickets in a crucial opening match.

This was a very crucial match for team Nepal as the loser of this match would probably face a strong Thailand team in the quarterfinal, given the fact Thailand beat all the opponents and Nepal also win the remaining match. In such case, Nepal will probably face Myanmar, Singapore or Kuwait.

Chasing a target of 94 runs, Nepal completed a target in 14.1 overs losing just two wickets. Sita Rana Magar wrapped up the win with a boundary. She scored an unbeaten 36 runs. Indu Barma was the standout batter as she scored 40 runs from 33 balls with three fours and one six.

Earlier in the first innings, Hong Kong posted 93/8 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Skipper Kary Chan top-scored with 21 runs whilst Maryam Bibi and Yasmin Daswani added 19 and 15 runs respectively.

Rubina Chhetri (4-0-15-2) and Puja Mahato (4-1-19-2) picked up two wickets each for Nepal. Kabita Joshi and Sita Rana Magar also grabbed one wicket each.

Nepal will face Bhutan in the second match on February 11.
