Nepal Engineering College and Kathmandu University Enter Semi-Final

Nepal Engineering College and Kathmandu University have entered the Semi Final of First Inter University T20 Cricket  Tournament after winning their Quater Final match played today at Dhulikhel today. The tournament is jointly organised by Kathmandu University and University Sports Association Nepal.

1st Quarter Final: Janaki Medical College (JMC) vs Nepal Engineering College ‘A’ (NEC ‘A’)
NEC “A” defeated Janaki Medical College by 5 wickets in the first quarter final. Winning the toss and batting first Janaki were able to compile only 62 runs before getting all out in 17th over. Bishow Ranpal top scored for Janaki with 18 off 26 balls. Jitendra Nayak lead NEC bowling getting 4 Janaki Scalps and giving away just six runs. Roshan Shah and Dipendra Shah grabbed a wicket each for NEC to restrict Janaki to small total.

Chasing 63 NEC got to the target with 5 wickets and 56 balls remaining. Nishant Gadhtoda did bulk of the scoring for NEC getting 41 of the 63 runs in just 26 balls. Amrti Sapkota bagged two wickets for Janaki while Bishow Ranpal and Amit Singh got one wicket each.

Jitendra Nayak was adjudged the player of the match by the umpires for his awesome figures of 4-06.

2nd Quarter Final: Kathmandu University (KU) Vs Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM)

In the second quarter final host KU defeated KUSOM by 19 runs and secured their semi final berth. Winning the toss and batting first KU posted 196/6 runs in 20 overs riding on top score 46 of 19 balls from Raj Timalsina. Shikar Sharma added 37 facing 19 balls while Krishna Bist contributed with steady 37 of 31 balls. Utkarsha Karmacharaya and Bisheh Sangat bagged two wickets each for KUSOM while Dixit KC chipped in with one wicket.

Having to score unlikely 10 runs an over from the start the match seemed  to be in KU’s pockets. Utkarsa Karmacharya unbeaten 49 of 30 balls and Ankush Upreti’s 40 of 36 balls helped KUSOM to stay in the game while chasing. KUSOM were however eventually restricted for 177/6 thanks to two wickets each from Nabin Neupane and Krishna Bista.

Krishna Bista for his all round show was declared player of the match.
