Nepal grab third consecutive win in U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier

The Nepalese youth team has grabbed a third consecutive win in U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier. Nepal defeated Hong Kong by nine wickets in their third match at Malek Cricket Ground – Ajman.

Chasing a mere total of 121, Aakash Tripathi scored his second half-century of the tournament as Nepal completed the chase in 22.1 overs, losing just a single wicket. Tripathi scored an unbeaten 64 runs smacking five fours and four biggies. Uttam Thapa Magar also scored 39* from 50 balls. Last match’s centurion Arjun Kumal was dismissed for 16 in the 16th over.

Earlier, Hong Kong were wrapped up for 120 runs in 46.3 overs after choosing to bat first. Hemant Dhami was the pick of a bowler for Nepal to settle Hong Kong in a tiny total. He pocketed three wickets, conceding 19 runs. Akash Chand and Subash Bhandari picked up two scalps each while Dipesh Kandel took one.

Parth Bhagwat was the top scorer for the losing side with 36 runs. Mohammad Aliyaan Zahir scored 29, while Ahan Trivedi made 11. No other batters were able to cross double-digit scores.

Nepal defeated Singapore by 96 runs in the first match, and mammoth 243 runs win against Kuwait in the second match.
