Nepal miss out on Asia Cup

Nepal Women Cricket Team

Nepal’s dream to feature in the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup was shattered on Friday following an Abandoned of the first semi-final match of the ACC Women’s T20 Championship due to the rain.

Nepal did a terrific job bowling out the UAE for the first time in the tournament after inviting them to bat first at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur. Ashmina Karmacharya’s brilliant fifer helped Nepal restrict the UAE for 81 runs.

However, no more play was possible and the UAE progressed through to the final as they topped Group ‘A’ whilst Nepal was a runner-up from Group ‘B’.

Apart from Ashmina’s maiden fifer, Indu Barma and Sita Ranamagar too were brilliant with the ball, picking up three and two wickets respectively. Vaishnave Mahesh scored quick 16 runs for UAE while Esha Ozjha and skipper Chaya Mughal aided 15 and 14 runs respectively.

UAE have also booked their seat in the upcoming Asia Cup after cruising through to the final. The winner between Hong Kong and Malaysia in the second semi-final will grab the remaining spot in the Asia Cup.
