Nepal off to a flying start in U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifiers

Nepal has registered a fantastic win in the opening clash of the Men’s U-19 World Cup Asian Region Qualifiers. Singapore were thrashed by 96 runs at Eden Garden Oval Ajman.

After opting to bat first, Nepal piled up 261/7 in the allotted 50 overs. Arjun Kumal (37) and Aakash Tripathi shared a 93 runs partnership for the second wicket after the departure of Deepak Bohara (5). Tripathi scored 78 runs with seven fours and one six. Bishal Bikram Kc did more damage to Singapore, smacking 54-ball 63. Dev Khanal and Dipak Bohara contributed 21 and 17 runs respectively.

Aryaveer Chaudhary and Abhuday Chhajer picked up two wickets each for Singapore. Adwitya Bhargava and Mahiyu Bhatia also pocketed one each.

In reply, Singapore were restricted to 165/7. Aaryan Modi was the top scorer for the losing side, scoring 58 runs. Sidhanth Srikanth scored 44 runs while other batters were unable to do any special.

Hemant Dhami and Subash Bhandari grabbed a pair of wickets each for Nepal. Bishal Bikram Kc also picked up one scalp.

Aakash Tripathi was adjudged the player of the match for his fine inning. Nepal will face Kuwait on 25th February in the second match.
