Nepal qualifies for Semifinal

Kathmandu – Nepal has been selected for Semifinal spot in the ongoing ACC T20 Championship today after the confirmation of better net run rate in the group B.

Despite a win against Saudi Arabia by 53 runs, United Arab Emirates could not maintain their net runrate. They needed 71 runs victory margin to mark their place in semifinal but failed to do so, as Saudi Arabia scored 115 runs chasing 169 runs in 20 overs.

Nepal will also be eligible to play the Twenty20 World Cup Qualifiers along with Hong Kong and Oman from the Asia region (Afghanistan automatically qualified)to be held in March in the UAE.

In today’s match, UAE batted first and scored a massive 168 in 20 overs and bundled out Saudi Arabia for 115 runs in 19.2 overs.

The result left the UAE tied with Nepal and Hong Kong, with equal six points from their respective four matches. On net run rate, Hong Kong advanced to the semifinals as group winner and Nepal, as group runner-up.
